Marina Kaljurand (née Rajevskaja; born 6 September 1962)[1] is an Estonian politician who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs. She was nominated by the Reform Party, but is independent and has never been affiliated to any political party.[1] Earlier, she served as the Ambassador of Estonia to the United States, Russia, Mexico, Canada, Kazakhstan, and Israel.
Merele is an experienced Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the civic & social organization industry. Skilled in International Project Management, Analytical Skills, Innovation Management, Communication and Marketing Management, both, in private and public sectors, Sustainability, and Coaching. Strong professional with a Ph.D. focused in Management and Research.
She has extensive experience in international relations, creation and management of international networks, EU project development and management, organisation of large multi-cultural events.
Having worked for public, private and non-profit sector, possessing competences relevant for cross-sectoral cooperation. Having been in management position, and thus can provide organisational planning, analytical thinking and strategic development.

In conjunction with the US Department of State, WIIS hosted a conference on “Baltic Regional Security Challenges,” in Riga Latvia which brought together 60 representatives from government, business, and NGOs. There were three panels and a roundtable, as well as a keynote address given by Her Excellency Vaira Vike-Freiberga, the President of Latvia on May 15-17.
