Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine has raised fears of a nuclear accident and the safety and security of nuclear facilities. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other members of the international community have called for an agreement to deliver assistance and expertise to preserve nuclear safety and security for nuclear facilities operating in Ukraine.
Join Women In International Security (WIIS), the Embassy of Liechtenstein, and the Black Sea Women in Nuclear Network on April 29 at 9:00 AM (EST)/15:00 (CET) for a policy roundtable highlighting the impact and intersection of gender and nuclear security and safety.
Experts in the field and members of the Black Sea Women in Nuclear Network (BSWN) will assess the conflict in Ukraine and the region in the wake of military hostilities. They will also report on the current status of nuclear safety and security in Ukraine and provide an overview of the BSWN’s work and its transborder cooperation in Ukraine.
