|Title||WIIS Italy is an Operational Partner with Mediterranean Women Mediators Network|
Women in International Security Italy in collaboration with the Istituto Affari Internazionali is the operational partner of the Mediterranean Women Mediator Network, a project initiated, promoted and funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The MWMN aims at increasing the number of women involved in peace keeping efforts as well as the continued promotion of gender equality policies in the region. The network is committed to fostering women's participation and advocacy through events and global solidarity. It is one of the flagship initiatives of Italy's mandate as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2017, with the aim of enhancing its contribution to the effort of "building peace for tomorrow". The establishment of the MWNM is also included in Italy's III National Action Plan (NAP) on Women, Peace, and Security for the 2016-2019 period. Since its establishment, the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network has continuously welcomed new members and hosts numerous events and activities ranging from long-distance trainings, peer-to-peer exchanges, advocacy, and outreach campaigns. Furthermore, it has established local branches and regularly works in collaboration with other women mediator networks in the context of the Global Alliance of Regional Women Mediators Network, of which it is one of the founding members. Finally, is a multi-generational effort, that is willing to embrace driven women whom are making a difference.
