Catherine passed away in February 2023. Catherine was a champion for gender equality. Catherine was prompted to found WIIS through her own experiences as a woman in the field of international security, especially arms control. A friend and mentor to many, her legacy is the generations of young and talented women working in national and international security. Catherine had to forge a path forward in a field where few women could make a career. Her children survive Catherine, Michael Kelleher (Dayna Kalleres) and Diane Kelleher (David Attis), and four grandchildren.
