Gendered Harm II: The Gendered Impact of Biological and Chemical Weapons
June 04 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join WIIS and the Embassy of Liechtenstein on June 4th at 11:oo AM (EDT) for a virtual discussion on the gendered impacts of chemical and biological weapons. This event, which builds upon last year’s event, Gendered Harm: The Disproportionate Impact of Weapons on Women and Girls, aims to advance policy debates and outcomes by addressing issues such as the differentiated biological impacts, emerging technologies, and equitable gender representation in these fields.
This event will present experts on gender and chemical and biological weapons to find new ways of acknowledging the gendered impact of these weapons and possible ways of advancing the policy debate and outcomes in the field. This discussion will take stock of the ways in which weapons can harm women and girls; emerging technologies and gender, ethical, and social impacts; best practices of acknowledging gendered harm in arms control and
disarmament debates; proposals for practitioners to address the disproportionate impact that weapons
can have on women and girls; and the need to address the lack of equitable gender representation in the fields.
