Founded in 1987, Women In International Security (WIIS—pronounced WISE) is a non-governmental organization that champions women leaders in the international peace and security sector. WIIS has promoted an inclusive approach to the Women, Peace, and Security agenda for 35 years by providing professional growth opportunities for women, leading research projects and policy engagement initiatives, and nurturing a community of mentors, advocates, experts, and leaders. The WIIS network spans nearly 50 countries across six continents and includes 15,000 members who are committed to closing the gender equality gap worldwide.
