On July 10, 2024, Women in International Security (WIIS) and Our Secure Future (OSF) co-hosted a private event on the role of the Women, Peace and Security agenda in today’s security landscape. The event’s panel featured Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security at NATO, Irene Fellin, who also founded the Italian chapter of WIIS. The panel additionally included Dr. Geeta Rao Gupta, the Ambassador-at-Large for the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues at the US Department of State, and Jessica Lewis, the Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs at the US Department of State. Our distinguished guests held a discussion highlighting the obstacles to and importance of women’s leadership in security alliances, as well as government representatives’ outstanding contributions to women, peace and security (WPS) initiatives.
