The Alliance for International Exchange seeks to hire a part-time Program Fellow to support a committed team of professionals who are educating people about the power of international exchange programs.

The Fellowship is an opportunity for students and rising professionals to learn more about and gain experience with international exchange programs and advocacy.

The Program Fellow will mainly work on Membership Development and Communications, with a strong focus on the Alliance’s Annual Conference and other event support. The Fellow will also support the staff in the organization’s advocacy and coalition organizing and content management.  

Core Responsibilities

Membership and Professional Development

– Annual Conference support 
– Webinar and virtual programming support
– Membership development, outreach and research 
– Engagement with Alliance members and partners at external events

Communications

– Alliance newsletter support 
– Social Media support 
– Drafting large email distributions 
– Drafting and editing documents 
– 
Website management 
– Updating the Alliance’s membership database

Advocacy Support

– Help gather and upkeep congressional contacts
– Monitors latest news, alerts, travel restrictions, Department of State updates, visa processing, and Federal Register updates
– Conduct research into issues important to Alliance members
– Support local advocacy initiatives
– Support Congressional advocacy initiatives 

The Program Fellow will also engage in other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

– Strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills
– Flexibility, creativity, and an ability to move seamlessly between team- and self-directed work
– Interest in social media and communications a plus
– Experience with international education and exchange programs or related international affairs issues a plus 

The Fellowship is based in Washington, DC and is a hybrid position. The position must be based in the DC-metro area. The Fellowship runs from August – December 2024, with the potential to extend to a year-long term. The Fellow will work part time (between 20-30 hours) and will be paid $20/hr.
