Women Peace and Security (WPS) Advisor

Location: Carlisle Barracks, PA/Telework

Clearance: Secret

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred in a discipline related to: Human Resources, Gender Studies, Sociology, International Relations.   The highest qualified candidate will possess a master’s degree or doctorate degree from an accredited institution in a discipline related to major fields of study previously listed.

WPS principles include the following:

  • Participation of women in peace and security
  • Protection of women and girls from violence
  • Inclusion of women in conflict prevention
  • Equal access to relief and recovery before, during, and after conflict and crisis
  • Protection of human rights
  • Equal application of the rule of law
  • Incorporation of a gender perspective into peace and security efforts

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A qualified candidate will have completed any education or training course.
  • A qualified candidate understands the Women, Peace and Security principles
  • A qualified candidate will possess a minimum of 2+ years of experience working with a US Armed Service, the Department of Defense, or similar large organization.
  • A qualified candidate will have demonstrated an ability to research information.
  • A qualified candidate will have demonstrated the ability to communicate verbally through professional presentations.
  • A qualified candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • A qualified candidate will be familiar with training and education.
  • A qualified candidate will demonstrate the ability to obtain a secret clearance. A highly qualified candidate will currently possess a secret clearance.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office® (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Completed any professional military education course. Highest qualified candidate will have completed the Non-commissioned Officer’s Advanced Leaders Course, or the Officer Intermediate Level Education, or an equivalent level course
  • Experience, demonstrated by the employment history, incorporating WPS principles within his or her organization. Highest qualified candidate will have served in a supervisory capacity, demonstrated by the employment history, incorporating WPS principles within his or her organization
  • Possess a minimum of 7+ years of experience working with a US Armed Service or the Department of Defense. Highest qualified candidate will possess a minimum of 7+ years of experience working with a US Armed Service or the Department of Defense with 2+ years of experience in the human resources field.
  • Demonstrated experience of working independently in researching information for the development of studies, reports, or training support materials. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally to senior personnel through professional presentations.
  • Authored, co-authored, or contributed significantly to the development of military doctrine, to the development of training or educational course materials, or to the development of organizational policies, plans, programs, or strategies.
  • Possess a demonstrated knowledge of the U.S. military’s doctrine, training, or education development process.
