Today, more than ever, it is critical that we champion women as leaders in the international security arena.
WIIS has a long track record of promoting equality and advancing women’s leadership, participation, and agency with a commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion in who we are and what we do.
We lead by bridging the academic, policymaking, and practitioner domains to close the gender gap in the international security sector. For 35 years, WIIS has supported professional growth for women, led gender equality research projects and policy engagement initiatives, and nurtured a community of powerful security advocates, leaders, and mentors.
Our Work
WIIS supports gender equality and the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda. We do so through bridging research to action–linking evidence-based scholarship to policy and practice through integrative policy analysis, publications, public forums, mentoring and professional development programs, stakeholder engagement and assistance, and WPS training and assessment.
Our research and high-level events integrate a gender approach to the emerging and complex peace and security issues of our day to find workable solutions that lead to sustainable peace worldwide.
Our Community
WIIS provides member support for its global network of chapters and affiliates and its programmatic support of the next generation of young scholars and practitioners around the globe to meet the complex security challenges of our time.
Our approach combines promoting young talent and leadership opportunities, building global connections, and providing a platform to showcase innovation and talent in our global community.
